I love both painting and printmaking. My main interests are the natural world, including both nature and our innate human world of myths, legends, and the unconscious.

I prefer to paint abstractly to capture moments of light or feeling. I tend to work in a fairly large format to better create a sense of immersion in the landscape. When painting nature, my working method is to quickly lay in the composition with color and value, loosely based on a watercolor sketch or small painting previously executed en plein aire. I layer color and use glazing to try to capture the loveliness of nature, as well as the implied threat in dark, shadowy undergrowth.

Some years ago I fell in love with printmaking. The spontaneity and unpredictability of the process appeal to me, as well as the variations obtained by using different inks or papers. Most of my printmaking involves combining several layers of monoprinting with relief prints and collage.
